Coaching and content here are general wellness education. Here’s exactly what that means.

Coaching, not medical care

JT Root is a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach, not a registered or licensed dietitian, a certified nutritionist, or a medical provider. Coaching is general nutrition education and habit support for wellness. It is not medical nutrition therapy and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition.

Coaching works alongside your prescriber, never instead of them. JT does not advise on starting, stopping, dosing, tapering, switching or sourcing any medication, and does not manage medication side effects. Bring any symptom or medication question to your prescriber.

If you have diabetes, prediabetes, kidney disease or another medical condition, your nutrition plan for that condition stays with your clinician or a registered dietitian. JT doesn't coach to blood-sugar targets or interpret glucose data for medical purposes, and he will tell you when something needs a licensed professional.

Red flags

Persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, signs of dehydration, fainting, or being unable to eat or drink: contact your prescriber or seek urgent care now. Coaching is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911.

Articles, guides and videos

Everything on this site, in the newsletter and in our videos is general information about published research and everyday habits. It isn’t medical advice, and it isn’t a reason to start, stop or change any medication or supplement. Your prescriber has the final word.

We name every study with its authors, journal and year, label animal research as animal research, and call one trial one trial. Corrections go at the top of the page with a date. Read how JT works.

Supplements

Root Wellness Lab doesn't sell or link to supplements. In coaching, JT can review supplements you take or are considering. The review covers what the research shows, quality and third-party testing, and label red flags, plus questions to bring to your prescriber or pharmacist. He doesn't prescribe supplements or doses, and never recommends Numi Naturals products.

When an article discusses supplement research, it reports what a cited source says and points you to your prescriber or pharmacist for every product decision. It never recommends what to take or avoid.

Results and testimonials

Results vary from person to person. Coaching does not promise any amount of weight loss, weight maintenance, or muscle retention. Testimonials describe one person's experience.

Any testimonial from a founding client is marked as coming from a client who paid a discounted rate.

What JT has a stake in

I founded and run Numi Naturals, a supplement company. Root Wellness Lab is editorial and doesn't sell or link to supplements. Coaching is the one paid thing here.

We link to studies, guidelines and official drug labels so you can check our work. We don’t control those sites, and a link isn’t an endorsement.
